I love both of these scenes so much. Because in both situations Damon had the opportunity to take advantage of Elena not trusting and being angry at Stefan. But he took the higher road. Because he wants it to be real with Elena. Because he’s selfless. Because he is always honest with her. Because he loves his brother and that’s why he defends him to Elena, even if it doesn’t necessarily help his cause. That’s the kind of man Damon Salvatore is, putting Elena’s and even his brother’s happiness before his own.

And don’t even get me started on the way Elena looks at him like he’s all she’s ever wanted.
